There’s a trickle of rumors buzzing around the Web right now saying Honda will debut a new hybrid sports car based on the sexy CR-Z at the Tokyo Motor Show. The rumors include a few likely details, including the fact that the car will be powered either by a 1.5 or 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor good for around 140 horsepower. That all sounds fine and dandy, but there are dark clouds on the horizon. According to the murmurings, the 140 available horses get put to the pavement via a CVT. Now, don’t get me wrong, CVT gear boxes are great at making the most of every available rep, but as far as driving goes, they’re about as engaging as tube socks. Not cool. We’ll see what the truth is on October, 23.
